On Thursday, September 12th, 2019 the Anacostia Business Improvement District launched its inaugural Big Chair Discussions during the Congressional Black Caucus’ 2019 Annual Legislative Conference at the Washington Convention Center. The BID was asked to curate a collection of trending topics that reflected the conversations taking place in the streets, storefronts and living rooms of Historic Anacostia. We are pleased to report that Big Chair Discussions was a great success!

This achievement would have not been possible without the support, guidance and generosity of our many esteemed panelists and moderators, we are both honored and humbled by their participation. The Anacostia BID would also like to thank our partners, vendors and planning committee for contributing their time, talent and connections to produce this multi-day event.

Last but certainly not least, the BID would like to thank the many Anacostia and Ward 8 businesses and artists for their participation and support, they successfully showcased their work, their businesses, and their drive. As members of the local small business and creative community, they stepped onto a national platform and were embraced!

Now that we've given Caucus goers a taste of Anacostia and Ward 8, the Anacostia BID has been asked to keep the conversation going by hosting an extended discussion series on some of the topics raised at the 2019 ALC! We started off with a bang and will continue with a roar!

The next series of Big Chair Discussions will take place in Anacostia - The heART of the District!
